Community Invited to Eclectic Concert on July 5 (June 26, 2013)

The Northern Marianas College’s Proa Music Society, a student organization dedicated to cultivating students’ vocal, instrumental and dance talents, is inviting all community members to its annual “Eclectic Concert” on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Round House located in Garapan Central Park from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

The club also aims to foster an appreciation of music or inspire an interest in music within the community through this event by way of showcasing different genres and styles of music.

“Members of this club are inspired by music; we make music together in a way that we portray ourselves, our culture, and our lifestyles,” said the club’s Vice President Aaron Cabrera.

Cabrera added, “People of the CNMI have broad musical tastes and we try to put that all on stage every year.”

The concert will highlight singing, dancing and instrumental performances throughout the night. The dance performances range from classical, contemporary hip hop, and cultural influences. The concert also will feature a variety of mash-up song performances from different genres of music including Hip Hop, Pop, R&B, Classical, Rock, Reggae, and Oldies.

Ticket prices for children ages 12 and under is $5, adults are $10 and couples are $15. The funds collected will help NMC’s Proa Music Society acquire tools and instruments along with finding a potential rehearsal area for the club.
