NMC-CREES to host cooking demonstrations, plant giveaways, aquaculture exhibit at Friday's Charter Day (May 10, 2017)

(NMC) — Northern Marianas College’s Charter Day festivities on Friday will not only showcase live entertainment and vendors offering delicious foods, but the event will also feature cooking demonstrations, plant giveaways, an aquaculture exhibit, as well as interactive activities for kids hosted by the staff members of NMC’s Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Service Program or CREES.

“For the past few weeks, the staff members at CREES have been preparing for this Friday’s Charter Day celebration,” said NMC President Dr. Carmen Fernandez. “They are excited to engage community members of all ages about their programs and services.”

The CREES booth at Charter Day will be hosting a number of food and cooking demonstrations that promote nutrition and healthy lifestyles. The CREES agricultural program will be handing out hundreds of seedlings for various crops that CREES has been cultivating at its As Perdido Agriculture Station.

Moreover, the aquaculture program at CREES will be providing information about its fish stocks and aquaculture research services.

The Family, Community, Development, and Youth program will be hosting interactive activities for children.
