Bank of Hawaii Donates 10K to NMC (November 14, 2017)

As part of its commitment to supporting Northern Marianas College students and their educational and professional growth, Bank of Hawaii recently donated $10,000 to the college to help enhance computer facilities for students.

Bank of Hawaii had also donated $25,000 over the last two years to NMC, bringing its total contribution to $35,000.

“For more than 30 years, Northern Marianas College has been graduating highly skilled and knowledgeable students, some of whom have become employees of the Bank of Hawaii,” said Rose Sumor, Bank of Hawaii vice president and branch manager- Gualo Rai branch. “We want to continue supporting the college in its mission of providing a high quality and accessible education for CNMI residents.”

The presentation of the donation was made at the bank’s Gualo Rai branch, which opened for business last year. In addition to Sumor, Bank of Hawaii senior vice president Erlinda Alegre and senior vice president and branch delivery/admin manager Malcolm Lau visited Saipan to assist in the presentation of the donation.

“We are deeply appreciative of Bank of Hawaii’s generosity and unwavering support of Northern Marianas College students,” said NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez. “The donation will help the college enhance facilities and programs so we can continue to expand and advance the services that we provide to our students and to the community.”

“We are also glad that…Alegre and…Lau traveled to Saipan to make the contribution,” added Fernandez. “We look forward to sharing with them the positive impact of their contribution to NMC.”
