NMC digitizes over 100 oral history videos (November 6, 2019)

Northern Marianas College has announced that 129 video interviews of CNMI manamko’, or elders, are available for viewing and download online.

The footage, which was recorded by Herbert Del Rosario during his time as the CNMI Archives Director, can be accessed at http://archives.marianas.edu.

From 1990 to 2001, Del Rosario conducted the interviews for the Oral History Project in an effort to collect information on life in the Marianas during the Japanese administration, as well as life during and after World War II.

The digitization of the recorded interviews was completed by the college’s Information Technology department, and was made possible by a grant from the Northern Marianas Humanities Council.

For more information on the Oral History Project, contact the Community Development Institute at Northern Marianas College at 237-6805.
