Our Students Deserve More Than Recovery.

In the aftermath of Super Typhoon Sinlaku, Northern Marianas College is facing significant recovery efforts across its campuses in Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. As the strongest storm in the world in 2026 to date, Sinlaku brought destructive winds, severe damage to campus facilities, power disruptions, and major setbacks to the spaces where our students learn, work, and prepare for their futures. The immediate need is recovery, but the larger need is rebuilding with greater resilience.

Intro Text
When Recovery
Becomes Routine
But this storm did more than leave debris behind. It exposed how vulnerable aging campus infrastructure has become. Roofs already weakened by previous storms took another hit. Power systems failed when they were needed most. Buildings that have served generations of students are now being tested by storms they were never designed to withstand.

Intro Text

This is not the first time. In just over a decade, Northern Marianas College has taken direct hits from Super Typhoon Soudelor in 2015, Super Typhoon Yutu in 2018, and now Sinlaku. Each time, students, faculty, and staff have shown resilience by clearing debris, adapting learning spaces, and doing what it takes to keep moving forward because education in the Marianas cannot simply stop when disaster strikes.

But resilience alone cannot be the long-term plan. Recovery is the immediate need. Rebuilding stronger classrooms, more reliable infrastructure, and campuses better prepared for the reality of stronger storms is what comes next. Your gift helps make that possible.
Building Beyond
Recovery
Northern Marianas College is already looking beyond immediate recovery. The recent bid announcement for two new classroom buildings marks an important step toward long-term resilience, not just replacement. As the College continues to recover from Super Typhoon Sinlaku, this investment reflects a commitment to creating stronger, safer learning spaces designed for the realities of the future, not the vulnerabilities of the past.
