Seventeen graduating high school seniors recently completed the 2026 C.A.N.O.E. Pre-Health Academy, concluding three weeks of college coursework, hands-on learning, professional certifications, and career exploration focused on opportunities in healthcare.
Throughout the academy, students explored a wide range of health professions and gained practical experience in areas including anatomy, nursing, dentistry, phlebotomy, suturing, emergency response, oral health, and community health.
The program also gave students opportunities to connect with healthcare professionals and community organizations, helping them gain a better understanding of different career pathways and the role healthcare professionals play in serving their communities.
As part of the academy, participants earned three college credits through the University of Hawaiʻi West Oʻahu and completed certifications in CPR/AED/First Aid, Stop the Bleed, OSHA, and HIPAA.
The three-week program concluded with the SET SAIL Completion Ceremony, which recognized the accomplishments of the 17 students and celebrated the next step in their educational and professional journeys.
The C.A.N.O.E. Pre-Health Academy encourages students to Create And Navigate Opportunities in Education as they continue their education and explore careers in healthcare.
