From Janitor to Nurse: How One NMC Grad Turned Her Dream into Reality

Northern Marianas College students recently elected new officers to the college’s student government body, the Associated Students of NMC or ASNMC. The new officers are Bonnie Gio Sagana, president; Mary-Jo Camacho, vice president; Jinkim Abogado, secretary; Rownel “Jody” Coloma, treasurer; and Claire Barozzo, Henry San Nicolas, and Ariel Villagomez, senators.
After the warmth and friendliness of the local community convinced her to call Saipan home, Lucy Lu Pangelinan decided to serve the island community as an advanced practice registered nurse on Saipan after studying nursing at Northern Marianas College.
The CNMI has endured numerous natural disasters over the years, and Northern Marianas College students and graduates are on the front lines helping to expand the resilience of the CNMI community by actively engaging in helping displaced community members secure new homes.
Northern Marianas College nursing graduates Rachelle Ann Manlapaz, Abbas Shakir, Keejooh Koh, and Angelo Tristan Montes have joined the long list of NMC students who have passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses or NCLEX-RN.
As a geographic information system (GIS) specialist, Dianne Pablo shines as do many other Northern Marianas College alumni who are contributing toward the development of our islands and making positive impacts on our community.
