The latest news from Northern Marianas College

Continuing its efforts to support higher education in the Marianas, Marianas Pacific Distributors (MARPAC) recently donated $3,575 in cash, in kind prizes, and beverages to Northern Marianas College for its upcoming golf tournament currently scheduled for Saturday, March 20, 2021.

“We are proud to be able to support Northern Marianas College and its efforts to support higher education,” said Guy Pudney, Resident Manager of MARPAC. “I encourage other companies to support the College as well.”

Originally scheduled to happen in 2019, the tournament was canceled because of the impact of Super Typhoon Yutu and was rescheduled for March of 2020. However, the Covid-19 pandemic caused the tournament to be postponed again.

“Having MARPAC as a sponsor has always boosted the excitement of the event,” said Frankie Eliptico, NMC Interim President. “We are grateful for the company’s continued support.”

The NMC Foundation 16th annual open golf tournament will be held on the East Course of the Saipan LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort. Showtime is at 6:00 a.m., and the shotgun start will be at 7:00 a.m. The tournament will follow a medal play format. Covid-19 preventative measures will be followed and enforced at the tournament grounds.

First place winners in the men’s Championship, A, B, C, Senior, and Ladies Flights will each receive $500, while $300 and $200 will go to the second and third place finishers, respectively. Hole-in-one prizes also include two $5,000 hole-in-one prizes from Pacifica Insurance and McDonald’s, a 2020 Kia Soul from Joeten Motors, and a 2020 Mazda 3 from Triple J Motors. The tournament will also feature many other items such as raffle prizes like smartphones, hotel stays, meals, and much more.

The maximum number of golf players has been reached, therefore, registration is closed for this year’s tournament.
