The latest news from Northern Marianas College

Seven student officials of the Associated Students of Northern Marianas College or ASNMC were sworn in on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the Northern Marianas College. They are Bonnie Gio Sagana, president; Mary-Jo Camacho, vice president; Jinkim Abogado, secretary; Rownel “Jody” Coloma, treasurer; and Claire Barozzo, Henry San Nicolas, and Ariel Villagomez, senators.

In his inaugural address, Sagana said that he and his fellow officers will continue on their endeavor to create more opportunities for the PROA family and for future generations who seek higher education with the NMC.

“Through each path that I have been given in life, the number one aspect that all of them have in common is the source of passion, the passion that pushed me to continue reaching heights I never knew I was capable of,” he said. “As mentioned in my campaign, My team and I will continue striving for greater waves that our PROA can sail through.”

During the investiture ceremony, the officers unveiled their two key initiatives for the 2023-2024 academic year. ASNMC aims to bring together the student body and the community through monthly events and activities aimed at building social, emotional, physical, and mental wellness. They also plan to prepare college students to build meaningful connections in and outside of NMC.

ASNMC also hopes to cultivate student relationships for both college and upper high school classes to create a continuous connection.

ASNMC is a student-driven governance body. Its executive cabinet is composed of students elected at large by the student body to serve a one-year term in office.

This year’s student government elections took place on September 11 through 13, 2023.
