Northern Marianas College showed strong enrollment numbers at the start of its Spring 2022 semester, with the College having 1,153 students enrolled. This number represents a slight increase from the same time last year, where NMC also saw high enrollment despite the ongoing challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

During a hands-on activity, Dr. Todd Miner of the University of Colorado showed participants how to properly do a log roll.

Northern Marianas College’s Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Services’ (CREES) Family, Community, and Youth Development program, in partnership with the University of Colorado School of Medicine, was recently awarded a $47,000 grant from the National Hazard Center to strengthen community resilience in the U.S. territories. 

Pre-Engineering Scholarship

Northern Marianas College students who are enrolled in NMC’s Liberal Arts with an emphasis in pre-engineering degree program are encouraged to apply for a brand new scholarship that is offered by the CNMI Department of Public Works and NMC. The scholarship provides up to $2,100 for up to 10 students, and will be awarded in the Spring 2022 semester.

LAST week, the faculty and staff from Northern Marianas College gathered  together to revitalize an important area around the college. Despite how busy our team has been preparing for the start of the Spring 2022 semester, they still made time for this important project. The camaraderie they developed as a result of this shared project is matched by the pride of ownership they feel in helping beautify our community.

Dr. Zaidul Sarker

Dr. Zaidul Islam Sarker, lead Food Scientist and Program Leader at the Northern Marianas College Cooperative Research, Extension and Education Services (CREES), recently served as the keynote speaker for 3rd International Conference on Traditional Medicine in Modern Era for Cure on January 7-8, 2022, in India and presented information from his research regarding modified “green” method of supercritical fluid extraction.
