Northern Marianas College’s My Preparedness Initiative (MyPI) Rota members Shaniyah Cabrera, Hanna Ogo, and Freya Greathouse  conduct a “Cribbing” exercise where they remove the “victim” out from under a heavy wooden board.

The Northern Marianas College Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Services’ (CREES) My Preparedness Initiative (MyPI), in partnership with Homeland Security Emergency Management (HSEM), Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services (DFEMS), CNMI Public School System (PSS), and the Division of Youth Services (DYS), has produced many CNMI teenagers who are able to help their fellow community members in the event of any disaster or emergency. 

Eun Ho An

The following is the text of the commencement speech of Eun Ho An at the Hyatt Regency on May 21, 2021. She has completed her Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Education, and is now working on her Associate of Applied Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Computer Applications.

Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services Firefighter III Patrick George conducts a "cribbing" simulation activity with members of NMC’s My Preparedness Initiative (MyPI). The members are being timed and challenged to see how fast they can remove a victim from under the structure.

Since 2019, the Northern Marianas College’s My Preparedness Initiative (MyPI), in partnership with Homeland Security Emergency Management (HSEM), Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services (DFEMS), CNMI Public School System (PSS), and the Division of Youth Services (DYS) has been fostering emergency preparedness, community resilience, and youth leadership through proactive outreach.
